What is Definitely Not a Mimic?
It's a tool for RPG players to create item chests, fill them with items from the catalog or your own custom creations, and share them with friends via an interactive treasure chest experience. It currently supports D&D, Daggerheart, Pathfinder, and Mork Borg, with more games coming soon.
Which games are supported?
We currently support D&D, Daggerheart, Pathfinder, and Mork Borg. Each game has its own item catalog, and when you create a chest you choose which game it's for. The catalog automatically filters to show only items for your chest's game.
How does the treasure chest work?
When you share a chest, visitors see a closed treasure chest. Clicking "Open the Chest" picks a random item from your chest, weighted by rarity — common items appear more often, while legendary items are truly rare. The drop rates are:
- Common — 40%
- Uncommon — 25%
- Rare — 18%
- Epic — 12%
- Legendary — 5%
Why do I keep finding mimics when I open a chest?
The chest owner has enabled the mimic setting, which gives a 15% chance that any chest opening reveals a mimic instead of loot. It's a classic RPG hazard — not every treasure chest is what it seems! If you're the chest owner and want to disable it, edit your chest and uncheck "Enable Mimic."
How do I share a chest with someone?
There are two ways to share. You can share the chest's public link (the "Loot the Chest" page) with anyone — no account needed. You can also make your chest public so it appears on the Public Chests page. Or share directly with registered users by their email or display name, which adds the chest to their dashboard.
Do visitors need an account to open a chest?
No! The shared chest view is completely public. Anyone with the link can open the chest and discover loot without logging in or creating an account.
What are the item rarities?
Items have five rarity levels: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Rarity affects how often an item appears when opening a chest. You can also filter the item catalog by rarity.
Can I create my own custom items?
Yes! You can add items from the catalog for your chest's game, or create your own custom items with a name, description, type, rarity, and tier. Custom items are private to your chests.
